Founded in 1985 as a joint-venture between Birgi Sanayi A.Ş. and Pharma Hameln GmbH of Hameln, Germany, Mefar is specialized in toll manufacturing of small- and medium- volume parenteral solutions in ampoules, vials and bottles, as per customer's specifications; as well as sterile solutions in plastic containers using blow-fill-seal technology.
GMP certified by the german health authorities since 1997, the plant is equipped with fully automatic production lines, and functions as an integral part of the ampoule- and vial-production facilities of Birgi Sanayi A.Ş. Thus it has been possible to eliminate several stages of packing, transportation and storage as possible sources of contamination. This concept of integration has also been instrumental in achieving major savings through a high amount of synergy, making Mefar singularly competitive in its field of activity.
Commissioned in the spring of 1986, the plant has the capacity to handle the largest orders, and the flexibility to accomodate the smallest. Built and equipped according to the latest GMP standards, and incorporating the most modern concepts currently in use in the pharmaceutical industry, Mefar enthusiastically meets the challenge of the ever increasing emphasis on the utmost probity in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products, and clearly acknowledges its ultimate responsibility to the individual patient.
Continuous monitoring at all production stages and of all working conditions, fully equipped chemical- and microbiological- laboratories, and a well trained, enthusiastic staff of young pharmacists, chemists and chemical engineers allow Mefar to easily meet every international standard of quality.
Mefar is proud of serving as toll manufacturer to some of the best known names in pharmaceuticals, such as Abbott, Bayer, Bristol-Myers-Squibb, Carlo Erba, GlaxoWellcome, Hoechst Marion Roussel, Lilly, Novartis, Organon, Pfizer, Roche, Sanofi, Schering, Wyeth etc.; and is regularly visited by the auditors of these companies, in addition to the auditors of the local and german health authorities; ensuring the continuity of its high standard of quality.
